In Islam, Sadaqa jariya is a kind of on-going charity. This kind of charity brings lots of benefit to the both receiver and sender. It totally depends on the individual who is donating it, that how long they want to make a donation and in what form. This being a voluntary act, should be done by individuals out of their own willingness and not because of any pressure.

Charity means helping others by doing good deeds to each other and keeping Allah in mind. Herein, charity can be done by giving a small piece of advice to the needy or by helping someone for the future.

The main meaning of giving sadaqa jariya to any needy is, you are reaping good rewards after your death. E.g.. If you put your time in teaching Quran to anyone, then you will be rewarded by Allah every time when that person recites the Quran and knowledge shared by you.
