Madrasa and Islamic Religious School

The term Madrasa is largely used for denoting The Muslim school around the world.  In these schools, Islamic teaching and practices are taught to the students.  Islamic education system is also considered to be light of Islam. Outside the Muslim dominated Nations, the Muslim schools teach the Children the culture and the important preaching and religious Muslim practices. A Muslim school is referred to as the special school for the study of Islamic religion in Western countries. Such schools are of two types.  

•  One type, where only Islamic teaching and practices are taught to the Students.

•  The other one where along with the Islamic teaching and practices, modern curriculum of thenation is also taught.

The Islamic Secondary School is known as the Ibn Sīnā.  The secondary education is mainly for specialization of the student. As per the Islamic traditions as soon as the student attains the age of 14, the student is given the option to choose his specialization.  The subject of specialization may vary from reading to music, carpentry, painting etc.  These schools put emphasis on the vocational training of the students. While the Secondary school which follows the national curriculum provides the students with the education at par with the curriculum of the State as also the basic knowledge of Islam. 

The best way forward will be to maintain a balance between imparting Islamic knowledge and education and learning the curriculum of the Nation. This will enable sustaining the Islamic Knowledge and culture as well as modern education for the betterment of the students and State alike.
